Just what’s on my mind this morning.
I have been trying to get my head around the question: what are the qualifiers American Christians are willing to employ regarding the universal commandment to love your neighbor.
- As long as they are from here?
- As long as they speak English?
- As long as they are vaccinated or unvaccinated?
- As long as they are white?
- As long as they are straight?
- As long as they carry their weight?
- As long as they are not Muslim?
- As long as they view the world the way I do?
- As long as they are republican or democrat?
- As long as they are the right kind of Americans?
Jesus stated clearly, “I give you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. 35 This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.”
There is no, “As long as…” There are no qualifiers.
